by The Old Crock

You may be considering a golf travel package and hoping to reserve some time at one of the many great golf destinations in the U.S. or possibly an international location. It is best to compare prices of the various packages online first.

If you own a small or large company you may be considering a corporate golf travel package for you and your top employees.

A corporate golf travel package could include some of the following:

  • Accommodations – eight nights at quality hotels with twin or double occupancy
  • Golf – Greens fees and guaranteed tee times for 7 rounds
  • Rental Car – Full sized rental van with unlimited mileage from Hertz
  • Extra Services – Vouchers for accommodations and golf, maps, directions to various golf courses in the area. read more…

Having trouble reading the greens, need some good putting tips?

One of my golfing partners had a terrible time trying to read the greens, between the 4 of us he was the only one who could not for the life of him get the ball to break up the hill! He just kept on reading them wrong and we knew he needed some good putting tips, things that he already knew, but who was going to tell him?.

Now, he isn’t totally blind, not before the 19th anyway! but the subtle breaks he couldn’t see. He is not a golfer to roam the green getting down on his haunches to analyze it but generally he does get it right on most days, he is off 16 so he shouldn’t be that bad.

So just to put that into perspective, putting averages 43% of all shots on the golf course. That’s almost half your game with the putting stick in your hand so some attention must be taken if it’s not going to plan.

OK, Is It That Time Already, Time For Your Winter Golf Tips?

2009 November 22

Golf Tips N0. 1: GET OUT OF THE SNOW!

Here I am, not yet summer and trying to withstand 18 holes in +105 decrees and my mate up around Chicago is
starting to whinge about the cold. Sure the 105 decree days are not that common for us and they are still playable when you’ve got a golf cart but my mate in Chicago doesn’t have much say when the snow hits and pretty much shuts the golf industry down for the winter.

Well he can’t just sit by the fireplace and loose all that you had build from the golf tips he acquired during the summer months. Fine tuning the golf swing, getting the mind in the right place to get those 10 footers in the hole, working on the fitness to keep the game going all 18 holes.

He has coaxed his partner in crime (she has the better golf swing) to look where the suns still shines and where the fairways are still green. Where there are people with their sanity still intact, out playing golf.

They have found some great golf resorts that provide more than a golf player could ask for in winter. Generally they cater all people looking for a break not just golf enthusiasts.

What’s the importance of physical fitness for golfers?

2009 November 14

I discovered recently how easily it is to loose the swing & feel and the importance of physical fitness for golfers. My golfing partner had some time off to recover from a minor operation on his knee. He had a handicap of 14 playing consistently for the last couple of years when he started having issues with his knee 12 mths ago.

With the pain he was enduring he had changed his golf swing unconsciously to alleviate the discomfort of the knee, but it also added to the pain of his game.

When he got back on deck he found he was having trouble getting back to his original swing. Not only had the pain gone from the knee but so had the strength that it had which had also impacted on to the rest of his fitness including his lower back.

He is in his fifties and this was the first instance of him feeling old. Not a pretty site for someone who prided himself of the importance of physical fitness. But to his credit, he would not give in to the cart, he knew he had to be able to walk the course and to do that he would have to get back to exercises and stretching.

Do You Suffer From the Dreaded Golfers Elbow?

2009 November 5

You need to know how to prevent Golfer’s Elbow Now!

I know because Golfer’s Elbow not only prevents you playing golf, but also hinders your everyday life.

Get this - statistics indicate elbow complaints range from PGA circuit rate of 4% to amateur golfers 24% (that’s 1/4 of all typical club golfers)

2 or 3 rounds of golf per week seem to be the threshold.

But, if your in the 35yo-55yo age group, elbow injuries increase.

I’m sure if you look hard enough you’ll find a few free golf tips in this video.

Maybe one would be to keep your head very still. Especially when someones teeing off it!!

Another free golf tip would be to talk to your playing partners while playing your golf shot.

Have You Ever Gotten The Rules of Golf Wrong?

Rules of Golf - Rule XXXII by Charles Crombie

It can be embarrassing when you’re asked for a ruling and you start to umm & arrr.

I was out on the weekend when my playing partner got himself into a difficult lie and asked about the rules of golf in his predicament.

His ball ended up leaning against a water hazard marker separated by a few blades of grass on the side of the dam. If the marker hadn’t been there it was gone, so here lies the question.

What’s Your Excuse To Play Golf?

2009 October 18
by The Old Crock

Have you ever been asked the question – what’s your excuse to play golf today? not that you really need one but if you ever need to answer it, use the “it’s for the betterment of our health!”

If I’m healthy, I can play golf…If I can play golf I’m happy… If I’m happy, do you EVER hear me whinging that I want to play golf?

If I’m not whinging, you’re happy. If your happy and I’m happy, we’re both healthy!!

Now before you start calling me a sexist! it does work both ways!

Who knows how to drive a golf ball into the Olympics other than the professionals?

Golf has finally make it back to the Olympics since it was last played in 1904. That’s a long time between drinks and about time for this great sport of ours to be recognised again BUT why give it to the professionals?

Will Tiger Woods, Adam Scott and the like be payed appearance money for turning up?

Would You Like Free Golf Tips from the Shark?

2009 October 4
by The Old Crock

I’m not so sure that Greg Norman would be giving out any free golf tips at that moment!

You can see here with Greg Norman how age wearies us in our golf swing, Though the Shark’s would be just a tad different to what the average ‘Joe’s’ would be over 22 years.

At least it’s more consistant than his latest marriage.

Instead of free golf tips, the Shark could pass on some marital advice about how to not marry someone who is as famous and rich as yourself.
